The Metro DC Teens Speak Up! representative for 2020 participated in the Epilepsy Foundation’s Teens Speak Up! & Public Policy Institute on March 1-3 on Capitol Hill. This event brings together teens from across the US to learn about advocacy and the issues important to people living with epilepsy.
On March 3, Teens Speak Up! Representatives from Metro DC and Maryland made office visits to Senators Cardin and Van Hollen as well as Congressional Representatives Trone, Brown and Harris to share their personal story and discuss the current issues facing people impacted by epilepsy. The key issues they discussed included the importance of epilepsy funding at the CDC, Step Therapy Reform, and Safe & Legal Access to Medical Cannabis and Cannabidiol (CBD).
