Having epilepsy or caring for someone who does can be challenging. When epilepsy is diagnosed, it affects the whole family. Sometimes the practical problems of daily living – from insurance, to jobs, to medical care – may seem overwhelming. At other times, it helps just to talk to people who understand what its like to live with epilepsy.
Some people and their families living with epilepsy report a need for support and education within the epilepsy community. The Epilepsy Foundation Metro DC and Networking Groups are designed to provide this to those who are interested in connecting with others living with epilepsy, and to learn from guest speakers on topics associated with epilepsy.
There are a number of support and networking groups available to people with epilepsy and families in the DC metro area. Unless listed as an Epilepsy Foundation support group, the groups are not affiliated with the Epilepsy Foundation.
For further information on any of the groups listed below, or if there is no group in your area and you wish to start one, please contact Jessica Deering at email@example.com.
Note: Many support groups are offering virtual programs. Please contact the group directly to learn more about meeting dates and registration.
